We are proud to work with the following organisations, without whom we would not be able to do anything like as much as we do.
World’s 1st LOHAS Region
We announced to the press in November 2009 the creation of the world’s 1st LOHAS region in the North West of Singapore, an area known as Kranji.
This is the last remaining farming area of any size in Singapore, as well as home to a wetland reserve, Sungei Buloh, and the Singapore Armed Forces live firing area – a haven of biodiversity as off limits to everyday human interference.
Asia-Pacific LOHAS is working with the custodians of the farmers’ interests, the Kranji Countryside Association (KCA) to help develop this region into a true showcase for LOHAS.
We envisage an area that is, at heart, a working countryside, with respect for biodiversity and the environment at its core, as well as a series of leisure facilities for the visitors to the area.
With this in mind we are developing the Kranji Master Plan 2020, a mixed use plan encompassing:
- low carbon farming and sustainable agriculture practices
- respect for bio-diversity
- traffic-free weekends, except for bicycles and electric transportation
- farmers market and eco-village
- solar boat and kayaking centre on Kranji reservoir
- LOHAS sustainable living centre and corporate organic veggie farms
- an integrated agri-tourism plan throughout the region
- sports and leisure events for all sections of the community from the very young, to the competitive to the seniors
You can find out more about the work of the KCA here.
